Woodturning is a craft where the turner is taking care of what the nature has made. When the turner combines design and creativity with his skill he is able to make utility things, handicraft or pure artistic
items.
But when the turner creativity goes
beyond the lathe and he starts a decorating carving, is it a
wood turned item or a carving, or perhaps he combines wood with other materials making items which might be pure sculptural
art.
I prefer simple forms. A too heavy
ornamental carving will disturb the lines and take the interest of the viewer away from the turned form or pattern and colour of the
wood.
To confirm the intention of my homepage I will refer to a quote from Atar Bakhtar: "There is no deed greater than the passing of knowledge from one to another, for without it, we would all be lost in ignorance"
